Well, my copy of the book has vanished into my daughter's room, but her passport lists McConnell as her surname and Jess Akiko as her given name.

Akiko is a girls name as far as I know. I've never heard of it as a last name. -ko means 'child' and it's a popular ending for girls names in Japan. ^_^
